Wrap-Up Programs for CA / TX Projects

A wrap-up puts the whole jobsite under one coordinated insurance program instead of a separate policy, limit, and claims path for every trade. There are two kinds:

OCIPOwner-controlled
The owner or developer sponsors the program and enrolls eligible contractors, so you control the coverage, the limits, and the claims relationship.
CCIPContractor-controlled
The general contractor sponsors the program: the same basic structure, with a different sponsor and different economics.
One claims pathEither structure
When something goes wrong on site, enrolled parties work through one program instead of several carriers arguing over the same loss.

02 / Before we quote

First question: does a wrap actually pencil?

Wrap-ups get sold as the default for big projects. They aren't. Whether one makes sense depends on the project, and we look at that before we quote anything.

If an OCIP or CCIP doesn't make sense for your job, we'll say so and help you set up the right traditional coverage instead.

  • Total construction value and project length
  • Trade mix and how much of the work is on site
  • Who will sponsor it: owner or GC
  • Whether the sponsor has the staff to run enrollment, certificates, and payroll reporting
  • Whether the savings from bid deductions actually cover the program cost

03 / Process

How a wrap-up quote works

  1. 01

    Tell us about the project.

Location, construction value, schedule, and program type. A rough budget and timeline are enough to start.

  2. 02

    We review the structure.

Limits, deductibles, who's enrolled, what's excluded, and what has to be written separately (often auto, off-site work, and design professionals).

  3. 03

    Compare options and bind.

We bring back options from multiple carriers, walk through the differences, and place the program you choose. If you want help running it, WrapTrack is available for administration.

04 / Who you work with

Licensed Construction Insurance Agency

Kavana Insurance Services is an independent commercial insurance agency licensed in California and Texas. We're built around construction risk: contractors' coverage, builders risk, and wrap-up programs.

The agency was formed in 2025 and is run by a principal with more than 20 years of experience in insurance. The person who reads your contract and project documents is the person who places the coverage. Your file doesn't get handed off to a call center.

Need help running the program? WrapTrack is available.

Placing a wrap is half the job. The other half is enrolling subcontractors, collecting certificates, tracking payroll reports, and keeping records straight through closeout. WrapTrack is the wrap-up administration platform from Kavana Insurance Services. Ask about it when you request a quote.

What's the difference between an OCIP and a CCIP?

In an OCIP, the project owner or developer sponsors and controls the program. In a CCIP, the general contractor does. Both put eligible on-site contractors under one coordinated program. The right choice depends on who wants control, who carries the cost, and who has the staff to administer it.

How big does a project need to be for a wrap-up?

There's no single number. Construction value, duration, trade mix, and the sponsor's ability to run the program all matter. Tell us about your project and we'll tell you whether a wrap makes sense.

Do you place wrap-ups in both California and Texas?

Yes. Kavana Insurance Services is licensed in California (6016951) and Texas (3452379).

What does a wrap-up usually cover, and what does it leave out?

Wraps typically cover general liability for enrolled parties on the project site, often with consistent limits across trades and completed-operations coverage for the project. Off-site work, unenrolled subs and vendors, auto, and professional liability for design firms are usually handled separately. Workers' comp may or may not be part of the program depending on how it's structured. The policy and carrier decide what's covered on your project.

What information do I need to get a quote?

Project state, estimated construction value, and program type (OCIP, CCIP, or not sure). If you have them, add the city, start date, and project type. Rough numbers are fine to start.

Who administers the program after it's placed?

You can administer it in-house, use a third-party administrator, or use WrapTrack, the wrap-up administration platform from Kavana Insurance Services.

How long does a quote take?

It depends on the project. After our first review, we'll give you a timeline.

Have a large project coming up in California or Texas?

Send us the basics. We'll tell you whether a wrap fits and what it would look like.
